Q&A

  • What are the inconsistencies in Jerry Fleck's alibi for the night of Evelyn's murder?

Jerry initially told police he last saw Evelyn at 3 p.m. the day before her death, but later changed his story to say he was at the house at 8 p.m. This change, coupled with the fact that he had a key to the house and there was no sign of forced entry, makes his alibi suspect.

  • What evidence suggests that multiple individuals were present in Evelyn's house on the night of her murder?

The presence of three different cigarette brands in an ashtray, along with the fact that Evelyn was a smoker, suggests that at least two other people were in the house with her. This, combined with the fact that two men gave her a ride home that evening, further supports the possibility of multiple perpetrators.

  • Why is the Kentucky State Police confident that the murder of Evelyn Fleck is solvable?

The police believe that someone knows something about the case and that this information could be crucial to solving it. They are encouraging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing that all information will be kept confidential and diligently pursued.

  • What is the significance of the missing cash from Evelyn's home?

The missing cash, while not confirmed, could suggest a robbery motive. However, the hosts point out that the estranged husband, Jerry, had access to the house and could have been the one to remove the money, potentially planting the seed of a robbery motive in the minds of investigators.

  • What is the hosts' theory about how Evelyn's murder may have unfolded?

The hosts believe that Jerry Fleck may have been watching his wife and saw her with two men who went into the house. He may have waited until they left and then used his key to enter the house, killing Evelyn in her bed. He then attempted to move her body but was thwarted by the blizzard conditions and panicked, leaving her under the refrigerator.
