Regarding Victoria in Hawaii, and the above comments about chronic Lyme, RA, etc. I was sick with ME/CFS/FM/POTS, and chronic Lyme for 32 years. I was an advocate at the international level and a recovery program found it's way to my desk. I was not looking. it was the first time I'd heard that anyone had recovered from these disease, and it made physiological, biological sense. It is called ANS Rewire. It is a very comprehensive program, and pain and other symptoms are addressed in it. It utilizes so much of what Mr. Tolle says in his book, and mindful meditationbut is a large part of it. It includes other tangible tools for dealing with identifying with the disease and all the related thoughts that serve only to perpetuate the disease. Please check it out. Thank you Oprah and Mr. Tolle for this helpful content.

I usually love what Tolle has to say about many matters, but I respectfully disagree with his take on not discussing medical diseases and conditions. For many years, I've been living with Alopecia and R.A. My family insisted that I not discuss my Alopecia with anyone. Many years later, I realize this was due to some sense of shame that they had and instilled in me...shame that I lacked hair, wasn't "conventionally beautiful", and well...was seen as simply lacking. Finally coming out as a bald woman was empowering. For once, I had Alopecia. It did not have me. I took control of matters by making this an open topic. This meant embracing the condition, but not identifying with it. It is part of my life experience. This enabled me to finally shave my head and celebrate my baldness, not try to hide it with comb-overs, scarves, etc. Ever since, I've been promoting awareness of this condition in my social circle, and have empowered other women with Alopecia. This couldn't have happened had I not been open about my condition and talked about it so casually. I don't have to identify as an Alopecian, but I am a bald woman, and I want to reshape the narrative around women, beauty, and hair. This, alone, gives me purpose and meaning. It is the experience that drew me closer to a spiritual connection with God. After all, He hasn't been testing me like many people claim. Rather, He has blessed me with this condition to teach me more about myself.

I've never met anyone who identifies with Lupus or R.A. they always have said the same as me ,of how that would be a fatal flaw. I think a movie existed with Elijah Wood where if his heart beated too fast it would threaten his life. i think that is what it feels like. I guess if the illness occurs physically different, the mindset can be unique to each as well.

for the lady in Maui, with lupus and RA. I was misdiagnosed the same. after testing found it was chronic lyme disease. i highly think she should reconsider her diagnosis. to Mr Tolle, much respect and love. but my question is: I have chronic lyme disease. it is growing at a rapid pace, and we are denied and shunned by many. you say to not speak of the disease, but how do people like me create awareness in the fastest growing epidemic. how would we see change in the medical community if we didnt speak of our diagnoses. what if cancer patients stayed hush. would we have today all we have for cancer today? I am not my illness. I am healing, thankfully to Gods creation...the honey bee, bee venom therapy. so how could I possibly apply that to my situation. to not talk about the disease, in order to not have it become who I am. yet still feel it's my purpose to bring awareness to a raising problem and suffering children.
