This is a spotlight on the Scriptures Psalms 40:17 But I am poor and needy; may the Lord think about me. You are my help and deliverer. My God do not tarry too long!
Beloved, keep your focus on Jesus until your heart overflows with love, praise, thanksgiving, and obedience to Him who loved you so much that He sacrificed Himself for you. The Psalmist says, "I am poor and needy; may the Lord think about me." Beloved know this The Lord cares for you and hasn't forgotten you. People may abandon you, but He never will. Others might leave you in poverty and sorrow, but He will not. David asks God to rescue him. When we Know that God is thinking of us, and He remember us brings great comfort. It doesn't matter who else abandons us, if God doesn’t; and it doesn't matter what other thinks of us.
The Psalmist says with, My God, do not tarry too long!
It shows the Psalmist confidence in God despite being deeply afflicted and sorrowful, asking earnestly for God's help. I want you to think about something. Our Messiah who, despite all the pain and sin He carry, He found comfort in knowing God was thinking of Him and would not abandon Him.
There is a bittersweet feeling at the end of the Psalm. The final prayer, full of confidence and intense pleading, leaves an impression. But I am poor and needy; may the Lord think about me. You are my help and deliverer. My God, do not tarry too long!
Can you see the Psalmist, amidst His deep sorrow, looking up to God with trust, knowing that God thought of Him even when everyone else forgot Him, seeing God as the last, safe refuge.
In our own sorrows, we too can look to God with the assurance that we are not forgotten, that He thinks of us, and we have the privilege to pray to Him for quick deliverance. We can bear all sorrows if we know that God has not forgotten us.
