A new agreement means "open skies" between the Dominican Republic and the United States
Update: 2024-08-06
Description
Dominican New Yorkers are the largest Latino ethnic group in New York City, meaning thousands of people fly from New York City to Santo Domingo, the country's capital, each year. For those flyers, airplane tickets may be getting a little bit cheaper thanks to a new federal agreement.
U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat is the first Dominican New Yorker in Congress. He represents Uptown Manhattan and parts of the Bronx in the House of Representatives. He joined WNYC's Janae Pierre to discuss the newly brokered "Open Skies" agreement between the United States and Dominican Republic, and what it could mean for New Yorkers.
