Description

In this episode we discuss the issue of food waste and its environmental implications. At the center of our discussion is the Waste Hierarchy, which is part of EU law. We talk about how producers, transporters, suppliers and individuals contribute to the problem of food waste and how they can reduce their contributions. As we discuss the Waste Hierarchy we debate why the UK is not complying with the EU directive and is choosing to burn edible food via anaerobic digestion, when edible food needs to be redistributed among people who need it.
