Description
Karen and Mike review niche case reporters.
Plus, the MN CLE Portion: Each year, the ABA Tech Show hosts a Startup Alley Competition. An initial pool of applicants is narrowed to 40 contestants by ABA judges. Then, the public votes to narrow this list to 15. This year, just over 16,000 voters selected a handful of automation, legal research and writing, discovery, and other tools. Mike and Karen will survey the top vote getters and consider what these results mean about the awareness of technical options for practitioners (a requirement of Model Rule 1.1, Competency). Are these unique offerings or do these applications duplicate existing tools? Do these applications truly deliver better efficiency? What heretofore unseen needs do these results reveal about practitioner pressure points?
Three legal research and writing tools made the list. A simple Bluebook citation tool, CiteRite, garnered the second most votes. So, Mike and Karen will begin by reviewing these tools; LegalEase, CiteRite, and Jurisage. Then, they’ll review the remainder of the new tools including applications for client intake, document automation, discovery, and client portals.
