Description
A review of the 2020 Netflix series 'The English Game' featuring show regular Neil Andrews and yours truly.
The glossy drama written by 'Downton Abbey' writer Julian Fellowes, depicts the earliest days of FA Cup football and the tensions arising from the rise of working-class professionalism versus establishment amateurism in the 1880s.
In particular the series turns on the rivalry - and eventual respect - between Lord Arthur Kinnaird and Scottish professional Fergie Suter.
