Description

Argentinas Vaca Muerta shale formation has propelled it to become South Americas fourth-largest oil producer, surpassing Colombia. Since the government took control of YPF in 2012, oil and gas output has surged, with YPF leading the charge through unconventional shale drilling. In November 2025, crude oil production reached a record high of 844,000 barrels per day, with shale oil from Vaca Muerta hitting a new peak of 578,000 barrels per day. Natural gas production, however, has faced challenges, dropping 7% to 4.2 billion cubic feet per day. Vaca Muerta, spanning 8.6 million acres, holds world-class reserves of oil and gas, with YPF controlling the majority and producing nearly half of Argentinas oil at super-low costs. Experts predict oil output could reach 1-1.5 million barrels per day by 2030, transforming Argentina into a major energy exporter and boosting its economy. Checkout Solipillow.com
