The name "Chevrolet" is also a French surname, originally referring to a place where goats were raised. The brand was co-founded by Louis Chevrolet, a Swiss-American race car driver, and William C. Durant.
Chevrolet and GMC are both brands owned by General Motors (GM). While they share some similarities, GMC is generally positioned as a more premium offering than Chevrolet.
