BIO

Matt Baxter, CEO at Wedge, is a serial entrepreneur. He started his first business at the
age of 15, owning and operating Stony Pointe Lawn care for over six years, before selling
the company in July 2015. Stemming from his experience while recruiting and hiring
employees for his business, Matt created Wedge. The modern recruiting platform is
turning video screening into a competitive advantage. Matt’s focus is on removing
inefficiencies and enhancing the recruiting function overall to make hiring easier.
Given recent conditions, from the overnight move to remote hiring to the current shift
towards a hybrid workforce model, recruiting keeps evolving. As a result, traditional hiring
methods won’t cut it in the here and now. Wedge is built for the demands of modern
recruiting. Wedge, the video screening solution, helps companies make authentic
connections with candidates – anytime, anywhere, on any device. Under Matt’s
leadership, Wedge serves as a stress-free filter to identify top talent. To provide
customers with richer capabilities, Matt has led the development and growth of Wedge’s
partner program with leading ATS integrations.
Most recently, Matt led Wedge’s funding round with $1.6M in additional finding with
participation form new and existing investors to support its accelerated journey to make
hiring faster and easier. The funding is well-timed as industry analysts predict that the
U.S. is entering one of the hottest job markets in a decade. By helping meet the
challenges of remote hiring, Wedge has become an essential solution for many
companies under Matt’s leadership.
Matt hosts "The Matt Baxter Show," dedicated to people finding their purpose. The show
is an opportunity to have conversations spanning purpose-related topics with people who
love what they do every day. He is also the co-author of “The Hiring Knot,” a practical
informative look at modern recruiting. The book will be published early 2022.
Matt was most recently included in the Grand Rapids Business Journal 2021 40 Under
40. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Michigan Center for Economic
Innovation, Yornest, a social media app, and the NextGen Board for Wedgewood
Christian Services.
