After landing a gig as a promoter for an under-age dance event, Ben Harrison quickly discovered he had a knack for convincing people to party hard. He soon realised it made more sense to run his own events rather than work for someone else, and before long he was working with global clubbing brands such as Pacha, Hed Kandi and Ministry of Sound.
He then took his career on a different trajectory, working for one of Australia’s largest clubbing brands as both a stage manager and tour manager, looking after some of the biggest names in electronic music while they were touring down under.
Ben spent the next few years following the summers of New York, Melbourne and Ibiza. During this time he was part-owner of New York club Verboten, the event manager for Luciano at all of his Ibiza club nights, the lead stage manager for the BPM Festival, the national operations manager for Novel (Let The Eat Cake, Pitch Music & Arts), and the global tour manager for both Seth Troxler and Pete Tong.
When I caught up with him, it had all gone aforementioned DJ, as he was stuck on the COVID-19 lockdown instead of his planned holiday to Mexico. But staying positive, Ben also takes us through what his plans are once this whole virus thing blows over.
So I hope you enjoy Episode 4 of Series 2, my chat with Ben Harrison.
