For 17 weeks we’ve journeyed through the book of 1 Samuel, watching Israel long for stability and put their hope in the wrong places. From the chaos of the judges to the leadership of Samuel, from Saul’s rise to his tragic fall, the story has been one long reminder: every false king will fail, but God’s true King will never fall.
In this final message from 1 Samuel 31, we see the cost of following the wrong king and the hope we find in Jesus, the true King who conquered death and reigns forever.
We learned....
1) Earthly kings will eventually fail you (31:1–5)
2) The wrong king can leave a legacy of loss (31:6)
3) False kings should point us to the true King (31:7–13)
