Biden Administration's CBP One App Provides Immediate Work Authorization for Migrants
Description
The CBP One phone application, introduced by the Biden administration, provides immediate access for migrants to apply for work authorization, allowing them to bypass the usual waiting period, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Under this initiative, migrants who enter the U.S. through the CBP One app process can apply right away for an employment authorization document, which grants them the legal right to work in the U.S., as stated by DHS.
Federal data reveals that between January and July, more than 188,500 migrants have made CBP One entry appointments at various ports along the southern border.
This comes in response to mounting pressure from Democratic politicians who have been urging the Biden administration to expedite work permits for migrants, as their cities and states face overwhelming numbers.
