The Arizona Cardinals origins trace back to the Chicago Cardinals, founded in 1898, which struggled financially despite being a charter NFL team. In 1929, owner Chris OBrien sold the team to Dr. David Jones, a Cubs baseball team stockholder, for $12,500. However, Jones ownership didnt improve the teams fortunes. Enter Charles Bidwill, a successful Chicago lawyer and football enthusiast, who purchased the Cardinals in 1932, marking the beginning of the Bidwill familys long-standing ownership of the NFL franchise.
