The new voter list data from Bihar raises some crucial questions. After the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, names of 47.77 lakh voters were deleted across the state. But the numbers reveal that in areas with a higher Muslim population, the rate of voter name deletions is significantly higher than the state average. In Seemanchal districts like Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, and Araria alone, 5.84 lakh voters were removed — accounting for over 12% of all deletions in Bihar.
