Description

Bill Goffrier, a Wichita artist and former punk band member, has created a series of oil paintings called Authenti-City, depicting local restaurants and landmarks. His work, which includes over 370 paintings of Wichita buildings and landmarks, has become a visual history of the citys beloved eateries and iconic sites. Goffriers restaurant paintings, particularly those of the NuWay Cafe and Jacks North Hi Carryout, are popular among foodies and nostalgia enthusiasts. His wife, Karlee, encouraged him to create smaller, affordable pieces, which he began selling at local markets and fairs. During the pandemic, he expanded his reach by selling prints at the Old Town Farm and Art Market. Goffriers art not only documents the present but also preserves Wichitas past, holding deep meaning for locals.
