Description
New York Citys DOT launches a pilot program to move consumer goods by boat, not truck, between Brooklyn and Manhattan. This Blue Waterways initiative, part of the citys Blue Highways plan, aims to reduce traffic and pollution. DutchX, a shipping company, partners with the DOT and Economic Development Corporation to move 300-400 packages daily. Once in Manhattan, goods are delivered using pedal-assist electric bikes. This shift towards water and sustainable options is a step towards a greener, less congested city.
