Boeing Acquires Spirit AeroSystems: A Major Move for Commercial Operations and Global Maintenance ServicesBoeing has completed its acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems, bringing Spirits commercial operations back under Boeings wing. This deal includes the production of fuselages for popular Boeing jets and large structures for various Boeing aircraft. Boeing also gains Spirits largest spare parts supplier, expanding its global maintenance, repair, and overhaul services. Approximately 15,000 workers across five sites will join Boeing, with the Belfast site operating as an independent subsidiary, Short Brothers, a Boeing Company. Spirit AeroSystems will continue as an independent supplier for the defense industry, aligning for financial reporting and some enterprise functions but maintaining its own governance and operations.
