Business Casual | Ep. 3 | Tips for resume writing
Description
In this episode, I share some tips about resume length, content, and structure, based on my own experience as a hiring manager, and based on feedback from a few professional recruiters who graciously shared their thoughts.
Let’s face it - writing your resume can feel like the worst experience, especially for those early in their careers.
How do you reflect your experience when you’ve just graduated?
How do you avoid sounding like you're bragging about yourself?
Do you say “I” or do you say “we”?
Should it be 1 page or 2 pages?
Education listed first or last?
Personal bio?
Objective statement?
Headshot?
We all find ourselves asking countless questions like these and receiving endless advice from our parents, professors, peers - the list of people who have opinions to share is endless. So let’s add amateur podcasters to the list.
While I may not have spent my career in recruiting, I have reviewed literally thousands of resumes as a hiring manager in small and large companies, and I happen to be friends with a few very talented professional recruiters who shared their thoughts with me as I was preparing for this episode.
Business Casual is focused on those early in their career, trying to navigate the workplace for the first time. I hope you enjoy this episode.
