Description

Rep. Mondaire Jones (D. NY) of New York's 17th District spoke out openly against the US Supreme Court in 2021, in opposition to their perceived hostility toward federal voting rights protections. Jones talks about GOP opposition to the 2021 version of the Voting Rights Act, and how, in his opinion, "White Nationalists" used the Senate's filibuster rule to prevent the Act from being passed into law.

Congressman Jones takes issue with the Supreme Court on other issues , such as their striking a federal OSHA COVID-19 vaccine mandate. And he raises the likelihood that SCOTUS will change reproductive health law, and overturn the Roe v. Wade decision issued in the 1970s.

Jones advocates for Supreme Court expansion in hopes of balancing a 6-3 conservative leaning court. He has cosponsored a bill aimed at increasing the court from 9 to 13 justices.
