Description

Shellfish reefs once framed Australia’s coastline from Noosa to Perth, but today they’re considered functionally extinct. So why are some researchers turning to music to bring these decimated habitats back to life?

This week, we’re heading to the ocean floor to learn more about the reef restoration projects that are springing up around the country, and how music designed for oysters is playing a crucial role.

Join host Professor Andy Lowe in conversation with Dr Dominic McAfee, an award-winning marine biologist from the University of Adelaide, who’s figured out exactly what tunes to play to get these reefs going again.
