Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) is a condition associated with prolonged, high-dose cannabis use, characterized by recurrent episodes of severe nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. It typically manifests in three phases: prodromal, where patients experience early symptoms; hyperemetic, marked by intense vomiting and abdominal discomfort; and recovery, which occurs after cessation of cannabis use. Patients often find temporary relief through hot showers or baths, a unique symptom that can aid in diagnosis. Complications include dehydration and potential kidney failure. Treatment primarily involves stopping cannabis use, as standard antiemetics are usually ineffective.
