Description

This week on Repeater, we talk with comedian and writer Bailey Swilley (BoogieManja, Pretty Women: A Real Housewives Musical Review) about “I Like It” by star of 2018, Cardi B. In this episode, we explore music that can’t help but lift you up, empower, and push through the cold, dark winters…even if you don’t, say, own a Lambo’. Bailey and our hosts talk about happy music and other things Bailey used to keep her upbeat in 2018, like her pup Muppet, and really leaning into her love of reality TV.

We start our episode with everyone’s current musical obsessions from “Generator” by Turnstile , to “Breathing Underwater” by Hiatus Kaiyote, to Big Freedia and RuPaul. We hit some more 2018 highlights and low lights like the Queer Eye revival (and the great Antoni debate), as well as the much less fun Brett Kavanaugh hearings.

Bailey tells us about her love of Cardi B as a new type of unapologetic star and how “I Like It” can be perfect, both when you need a motivator, and when you just want to not care. We also delve into the great mystery of why it’s so enjoyable to hear rappers flaunt their wealth even when you’re broke.

Don’t forget to leave us a 5-star review, because we will read it on-air!!!
