Absolutely heartrending. I was hoping they'd be found alive. Towards the end of the episode, I was eager to settle for any sort of closure. Sadly, it wasn't to be. They were such adorable children. My heart goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Beaumont and my deepest condolences to them and the Australian people. My 2 year old son reminds me of the need to protect our innocent children from predators.

May I add my congrats on 100 eps too. You started with Wanda Beach and finished 100 with Beaumonts two cases that have haunted every Australian, particularly boomers. They shattered life as we knew it, we knew we couldn't trust anyone. Even our parents, who had been pretty lax with our welfare. In my area a child was attacked in a local park, abducted by a crazed monster. Six weeks later we were back in that park fishing for yabbies, oblivious. The oldest in our group was seven! Think we were told not to talk to strangers and that was about it. Unbelievable I know but very indicative of laissez-faire parenting of 1961 You still haven't topped episode 53 though and it's unlikely you will given the subject matter. This was unsolved at the time. Might I suggest a few more unsolveds, we seem to have very few lately. Great point about all those missing children. Makes you wonder if some of those kids weren't victims of those mentioned here too.

The whole case is just gutting, but the note read at the end just brings you to tears. it's remarkable what people can survive, really my heart bleeds for the parents and the victims. frustration at media meddling in the sting operation, it's come up before in case #64 and is just a right mess. A little more than disturbing are eye witness accounts of abduction at the stadium, where people describe children visibly struggling with a male suspect .... and that doesn't strike the observer as suspicious in the least? No "Do you know this man?" or any attempts to alert security.
