On the 80th anniversary of Alfred Schnittke's birth, Mark Lubotsky, Dmitri Smirnov and Elena Firsova discuss the relevance of Schnittke's music to Russia and to music today. Mark Lubotsky reflects on the compositions that Schnittke wrote for him, including the violin concerti and the works featured in the concert at the IMR on 24 November 2014
