Description

22-year-old Cole Thomas had taken a break from college to work a construction job and earn some money. During the fall of 2016, he traveled from his home in Florida to work on a job in Minnesota. Right before Thanksgiving, a couple of co-workers that he had recently met asked Cole to drive them to North Carolina, presumably to spend the holiday with their families. Cole agreed to drive them but what he didn’t realize was that the people he thought were his friends, weren’t friends at all and that he was headed straight into danger that would cost him his life.

If you have any information about the disappearance of Cole Thomas, you are asked to call the Benson, North Carolina Police Department at 919-894-2091.

You can follow Cole's story on Facebook at Find Cole Thomas.

Glad that The Vanished did an episode on this case. Others that have covered this case did not do quite the thorough job of giving an impression of who Cole was as a person, and how UNlikely that makes it that he was involved (willingly) in drug trafficking or related crimes.

what a heartbreaking story man - cole seemed like a really good dude who unknowingly got caught up with bad people. to me, it seems like they used him as a drug mule since he could drive and was nice enough to do a big favour, and once they picked up, they killed him so there was no witness to the deal as he was an outsider to their clique. you can tell how much his family thought of him just by these clips of interviews and he obviously had a big impression on people. hopefully there's a resolution in the case eventually!

always enjoyed this podcast and it's still up there for me but what's up with marissa putting on the new voice? haven't listened in a while so not sure how long she's been doing it but i always thought her natural way of speaking in her earlier episodes was a nice change of pace from other podcasts - the casefile host did the same thing with how he spoke! he spoke with his natural accent and voice and then almost tried sounding showbiz like!
