Description

If the 1st wave in coffee is pre-ground tin can coffee beans, the 2nd wave is Starbucks, and the 3rd wave is specialty coffee, then what’s the next big wave in coffee? Lucas Phillips, Northwestern student and founder of Brewbike Coffee, has an answer. He believes that the industry is shifting to brand ethos and moving away from positioning through product quality. Brewbike Coffee is a student-run coffee shop that sells cold brew coffee in Northwestern’s Annenberg Hall and Main Library. It recently raised $800,000 to expand its operations. In this episode, Lucas talks about the pressures of growing up in New York City, the strategy and marketing behind coffee, and his vision for Brewbike’s cold brew.
