Description

"We don't want to perpetuate these systems of exploitation in marine conservation, we want to make sure that everyone feels included." In this episode Alex and Carissa, co-founders of The Conservationist Collective, sit down and discuss how the competition mindset inhibits real change in marine science and conservation. We discuss examples from our own experience, and unpack systemic ways this outlook exploits workers and creates barriers to accessibility in the field. We also dive into the leaders we've seen do the opposite, how to unlearn this scarcity perspective and put the collaboration mindset into practice. We believe everyone has a place in saving the ocean, so let's actively rebuild an equitable career field that uplifts everyone else - from the inside out.
