Colts' Rivers: Old School QB in New Role
Update: 2025-12-17
Description
The Indianapolis Colts, once a dominant force, have suffered a dramatic downturn with four consecutive losses following their bye week. Their star quarterback, Daniel Jones, was playing with a broken fibula and a torn Achilles tendon, leading to his injury. Backup Riley Leonard also sustained a knee injury, leaving the team with only Brett Rypien as a healthy quarterback. In a surprising move, the Colts signed forty-four-year-old Philip Rivers to the practice squad and then to the active roster. Rivers started in Sundays loss, throwing the teams only touchdown, and will remain the starting quarterback for their upcoming game against the San Francisco Forty-Niners.
