Community Events: Gift Exchange and Doom 64
Update: 2020-07-17
Description
This episode is a very special one for the Reading Gamebow community. It is the first ever episode hosted by our very own thunder from down under (we can all thank Matt for that officially unofficial title), Blake!
First off he guides us expertly through a recap and impressions discussion of our gift exchange. The "not so secret LeVar Burton gift exchange" was designed as a way to connect members of the community who might not otherwise interact and have them purchase games for each other. The gift exchange was a massive success thanks to the amazing Steam summer sale. With a $15 budget, many great games were to be had. Our community members share about their experiences with the games they exchanged, and what made the event special to them.
Next up, we talk about our July event based on Doom 64. Blake named it "team reading" and throughout the month of July community members are invited to play two levels of Doom 64 each day. The idea being that with everyone playing the same thing day to day, it opens up opportunities for shared discussions and shared experiences. Our community members discuss their initial thoughts on the game itself, of which they have many, but also on the idea of team reading in general. We are also joined by the infamous Immorpher whose knowledge of the Doom franchise far surpasses that of anyone I have ever met before!
This episode is a great mixed bag of all kinds of stuff! Many games are discussed during the gift exchanged recap, great stories are shared of making friends and building community, and then of course a deep dive into everything Doom 64 has to offer. I am sure you will enjoy this episode!
Our host Blake is joined for this episode by:
Josh, Summer, Max, Brylan, and Jacob (Immorpher)
This episode was recorded on July 10th, 2020
Reading Gamebow is produced by Max Halterman and M Joshua Productions.
