Couch to Active: Fitness for a Better Life
Description
Today’s episode is all about fitness and health through the lens of living a better life. Kristin is joined by multi-award winning author and Founder & CEO of “Couch To Active,” Lyn Lindbergh, whose approach to fitness emphasizes integrating activities you love into your life to live a healthier lifestyle.
She and Kristin discuss the Pomodoro Technique and Kristin says that beginning with the idea that “ you can do anything for 20 minutes” motivated her to live a healthier lifestyle. Lyn uses the same approach and shares that in her own life, remembering to take short breaks helped her find her focus in the chaos of the day to day.
Lyn reminds listeners that taking care is not an option; we are humans and we need exercise. Not only that, she reminds the listeners: “You are worthy of having an active life style,” and it is not selfish to take care of yourself; it is necessary.
Kristin agrees and discusses the idea that in the quest for achievement, we often forget our health. She challenges the listeners to ask themselves: On the day you reach that professional or academic challenge—how do you want to feel?
Kristin and Lyn discuss taking a fun approach to fitness and learning to enjoy living in our bodies, and approaching fitness from a perspective of health and overall life enjoyment rather than the scale.
The episode ends with Kristin posing a 30 day challenge to listeners to support both themselves and others by giving another woman a compliment every day for the next 30 days. By supporting one another and seeing the good in others, we can see the good in ourselves too. Lyn closes the episode by reminding listeners of their worth and ability to adapt to change.
