Description

He arised on our bookshelves with Blankets, the story of a young American from a religious and traditional background, who combines drawing and romantic discovery. He followed up with Carnet de voyage, where he traveled across France to meet its cartoonists. Now Craig Thompson goes into his autobiographical way again with Ginseng Roots, a return to the places of childhood: this Wisconsin of the early years, where Thompson helped harvest Ginseng (for a few dollars immediately reinvested in the comics). A family story as much as a geopolitical one, its documentary aspect immerses us in a traditionally progressive state which began to vote for Trump in 2016. Without judgment, Thompson returns there, pencil in hand.
