It would be fun if Calm Emotions was cast specifically to make the enemy creatures not seem hostile to them; but the Barbarian keeps raging and doesn't know where to put it, being irritated now because they feel a deep hunger for fight but don't see anyone who they are driven to attack.

Another thing that I think is bad about hiding the death saving throws is that it is bad for character acting. Like, if you're dying (2 Fails) or if you're just badly hurt (2 Successes), you'd feel differently, and therefore also act differently.

I think a further compromise might be: free action to draw or sheath a weapon, but an action to both draw and sheath in one turn.
