SHOW NOTES
(00:00:00 ) Our guest is Suky Khakh of the “Around the Console” podcast, the “Trek This Out” podcast and the “Take Your Seats” podcast.
(00:00:00 ) This suitably nautical music is the TV theme from “Captain Pugwash”, a fictional pirate who appears in a series of British children’s comic strips, books and television shows created by John Ryan.
(00:28:52 ) The pages of Doctor Who Magazine #267 referred to here can be seen on our Tumblr page here.
(00:32:54 ) “Saturday Superstore” was a British children’s television series that aired on BBC1 from 1982 to 1987. It was shown on Saturday mornings with presenters including Mike Read, Sarah Greene, Keith Chegwin, and John Craven. The show was very similar to its predecessor Multi-Coloured Swap Shop, which had ended the previous October–March season following its presenter Noel Edmonds moving away from children’s TV. Footage of Margaret Thatcher’s 1987 appearance on the show can be seen here.
(00:33:28 ) Mike Read’s “UKIP Calypso”, complete with West Indies accent, can he heard here. The “Newsnight” debate which it triggered can be seen here.
(01:10:45 ) Turlough feeling free to urinate up the walls of the TARDIS can be seen on our Tumblr page here.
