Daily Devo | God with Us (Prophet & Loss, Ezekiel 1:1-9)
Description
The Book of Ezekiel begins shortly after Israel had been taken into captivity and the people surely wondered, "Where is God? Has God abandoned us?" As God appears to Ezekiel, the first image he sees was like an answer to this questioning plea. Amidst all the other sights, Ezekiel sees the cloud and the fire, the two images of God's presence with Israel when God led Israel out of Egypt. God was with them then and God is with them, and with us, even now.

For Reflection:
During the darkest times in our lives, we are often tempted to doubt God's power for us or God's presence with us. Ezekiel's vision speaks to both truths.
- During the most challenging times in your life, how have you been reminded of God's power and presence with you? Did you have to learn something new about God, or see God in a new way?
- We are often strengthened through people, places, and practices. Who are the people, what are the places, and what practices might help you to not lose sight of God's power and presence, or to see God in new ways?
