After Omaha was not accepted at the Sundance Film Festival, Dan became the co-founder of the Slamdance Film Festival in 1995, which takes place in Park City, Utah. Slamdance has showcased early short films and debut features from directors such as Bong Joon Ho, Ari Aster and Christopher Nolan. Dan is also the author of The Cheerful Subversive’s Guide to Independent Filmmaking, which hit #1 on Amazon’s New Releases chart after the 2nd edition was released in July of 2021.

The conversation ranges from Dan’s origin story into the world of filmmaking, to the creation of the Slamdance Film Festival, and his latest film: 18½, which is currently making its way around the US showing in various theaters. 18½ will become available on streaming services starting July 5, and July 11 in the UK and Ireland.
