Today we’re talking about the man behind one of the most tragic cult stories in US history — David Koresh who was born Vernon Howell and who went on to become the leader of the Branch Davidian religious sect, his life ending on April 19, 1993 following a 51 day stand off with the ATF and FBI who raided their Waco compound, resulting in the deaths of 86 people, 26 of those being children.
Many people associate David Koresh with Texas, but he spent time in Southern California, attempting to be a musician, building a religious following and even getting his name changed in Pomona.
