David Puig, a 23-year-old Spaniard, has made history by winning the Australian PGA Championship, becoming the first Spaniard to do so in 44 years. Puig secured the victory with a bogey-free final round of 66, finishing at 18-under par and two strokes ahead of Chinas Wenyi Ding. This win marks Puigs third professional victory and his first since February 2023. Puigs success follows in the footsteps of legendary Seve Ballesteros, who won the event in 1981. Puigs win also makes him the first non-Australian winner since 2016 and the highest-placed non-Australian, with Marc Leishman and Nick Voke tying for third.
