Most queer folks are afraid of spreading their colorful wings to the world because they feel pressured, unsafe, unsupported, and not celebrated. For Kevin, these are some of the reasons he kept lying, hiding his true self, and exploring in secrecy until one pivotal moment happened to him. 

Kevin Shah also known as “Captain Empathy” is a beautiful queer person of color that helps promote empathy and shares that anyone can learn the superpower of empathy and become captain empathy themselves.

In this episode, Kevin get really raw and vulnerable in sharing his coming out story, the fear and shame of being seen as gay by his community, the pain of hiding his colorful personality, and the initial reaction of his Indian family to his coming out. He also talks about the importance of being true and having empathy in finding your purpose in life.
