Drumshanbo project still on track despite €1M shortfall
Update: 2025-11-12
Description
Community development groups in Drumshanbo are still confident that a major development in the town centre will still go ahead despite a current shortfall in funding.
The project involves works on two vacant buildings on the Main Street in the town, the former Bank of Ireland facility and an adjacent building.
Through the local authority in Leitrim and the Department of Rural and Community Development funding was secured but it's understood that a shortfall of somewhere in the region of one million euro exists.
When completed it's hoped that a number of uses will be found for the buildings.
Local Councillor Enda McGloin says the project has huge potential to create additional jobs in the town
