Ben Saunders is a British polar explorer and motivational speaker who has dedicated his life to pushing the boundaries of what is humanly possible in some of the most inhospitable environments on earth. He is best known for his solo and unsupported expeditions to the North and South Poles, and has set several world records for polar exploration.
Saunders began his career as an explorer in 2001, when he completed a 1,400-mile journey to the South Pole. This was the longest unsupported journey in history to that point, and he was just 24 years old at the time. He went on to set several more records, including the first solo and unsupported journey to the North Pole from Russia in 2004, and the longest unsupported polar journey in history, a 1,795-mile trek to the South Pole in 2010-2011.
One of his more notable expedition was The Scott Expedition in 2017-2018, Saunders embarked on a 1,795-mile journey to retrace the footsteps of Captain Robert Falcon Scott and his team, who died on their return from the South Pole in 1912. Saunders completed the journey in 104 days, becoming the first person to retrace Scott's route and the longest solo unsupported journey in history.
Throughout his expeditions, Saunders has faced many challenges, including extreme cold, high winds, and treacherous ice conditions. He has also had to contend with the mental and emotional toll of being alone in such extreme environments for extended periods of time. Despite these challenges, Saunders has persevered, and his accomplishments are a testament to his determination and resilience.
In addition, Saunders has been a brand ambassador for several companies, including Canada Goose and Land Rover.
Saunders is also actively working on ways to address the environmental challenges facing the planet. He is raising a climate tech fund, focused on investing in and supporting companies that are working on innovative solutions to combat climate change. He is passionate about using his platform and experiences to raise awareness and inspire action on the urgent issue of climate change.
Overall, Ben Saunders is a true leader and an inspiration to many. His expeditions and speeches have been an inspiration to many, and his efforts to raise awareness and address the challenges facing our planet, make him an admirable figure in the world of exploration and environment.
