Description

After a series of near death experiences, Yoseph is changing the conversation around business culture, accountability, social media influencers, lessons learned, and why REGRET, may be what saves your business.

“Yoseph might arguably be the most important person you have NEVER heard of.”
- Sir Winfried Bischoff

Security and compliance is at the center of everything I do. I have been humbled to work for, and alongside leaders in some of the most exciting companies, defense ministries, regulators, intelligence agencies, law enforcement agencies, tech firms, insurance companies, global banks, and multinationals.

My background in public and private sector has allowed me to excel in situations that require a mix of intelligent problem solving and out-of-the-box thinking, combined with deep business acumen and the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders towards shared goals.

I have witnessed first hand that institutions collapse when hubris governs the response to security and compliance. As such I focus on results that are demonstrable, actionable, and sustainable.

I take those best practices, and lessons learned and convert them into keynote speeches, podcast interviews, articles, seminars, and other thought leadership.

EP: 192 Jermaine Gibbs When We Change the Way We See; Everything We See Will Change. “
Jermaine Gibbs’ skilled proficiencies physically manifest through motioned creations. A native of Baltimore City, this photojournalist’s passion evolved at a very early age. His greatest passion, “street photography” led him to paths across the globe capturing moments of natives executing daily activities. Astoundingly, many were flabbergasted to see and appreciate these moments in time not only intriguing but analogous in the eyes of the viewers’ everyday tasks as the neighbor next door. Although captured images of other people from other countries and continents could seem dismal to some, Gibbs’ gifting’s proves to be more than what we’ve come to perceive as average. The captured glimpses of others make evident his appreciation for what many deem as “every day ordinary”. For Gibbs, this “every day ordinary” is nothing short of an art form… divinely given by the Creator.     In addition to capturing eclectic montages, Gibbs has had the distinct honor of photographing many of the world’s most renowned and historically elite luminaries from political to dignitaries in secular and religious arenas. There are no barriers for this photojournalist, he leaves no stone unturned to seize every possible memorable moment for his clients. His work can be viewed around the world to include the “More Than a Picture” and the “National Museum of African American History and Culture” in Washington, D.C. Not only is Jermaine well-traveled, he has also come to be known as a philanthropist with a new found passion for mission work in Fiji; Ghana; Africa; and Australia and is a self-published author.     Moreover, Jermaine is the head of a “Restorative Justice Photography Program” established in 2018 and is home-based in Washington D.C. Also, Jermaine is known as the founder of “Hope Missions” established in 2017 is home-based in Baltimore, Maryland. Since 2010 Gibbs has been traveling around the world grasping hold to glimpses of various cultures and making provisions for others to see through the lenses of the unknown and make them comparable to those that we see every day.     Jermaine understands the importance in knowing … “When we change the way we see; everything we see will change. “ If you enjoyed this episode, please Comment Share and leave a review... EP:185 How To Turn Off Your Employee Mindset and Go For it
If you don't embrace life and move forward and get very explicitly focused on you and your journey, then you're going to choose to let life bring you down. I believe this. If my life sucks, if my company sucks, if my world sucks, or my marriage sucks, that's all my fault because it's on me to create the life that I want to create. If something tragic happens in my life, and it hits me harder than it should is because I didn't do the things before to make sure that whenever that tragedy struck that I wasn’t prepared. I wasn’t mentally ready to handle the aftermath. I'm not telling you that if your life sucks that you suck, I'm telling you that the choices I make in my life that that's what I embrace. But I do think the world is selfish. I think the world's a little vain I believe, people are sitting around waiting for life to happen to them and they're not putting any effort they're not going for it. They're not trying to find themselves and shaking things up trying to create a better life for themselves. They are stuck in an employee mindset. The employee mindset means you show up to your job when you when you're supposed to, you go home at the end of the day. You clock out and collect a paycheck. Then you do this every day. There’s nothing wrong with that lifestyle. But that lifestyle is going to keep people exactly where they are. When you start over internalizing that, you're not where you want to be in life, and that you should have it, that life should just come to you that you should, already be accomplishing these significant things. Especially when you haven't done the work, you're selfish; you're vain. You know, the world is not going to hand it to you. You've got to go through the things and do those things that will help you get your life to the level you want it A lot of people are often looking at the world with, rose-colored glasses on. Everything is sunshine and rainbows, and they’re envisioning themselves to these great and awesome places then they’re still sitting, they're doing absolutely nothing. Then they are expecting all kinds of results; life doesn't work that way. If you want a great life, then you have to create it and embrace it. You've got to, to build it, which means you got to do the things that you need to be doing to grow yourself. Then to grow your business, expand your job, and enhance yourself and upgrading to the next level. You level up and evolve when you embrace life.
EP:184 Sean Lake Is A Case Study in How to Turn Your Passion into a Profession
Sean Lake is a case study in how to turn your passion into a profession. A former college dropout turned professional snowboarder, Sean has followed his passions to extreme heights (literally)—from helping a young Shaun White with his homework as the team manager for Burton Snowboards to managing tours for Tony Hawk.  Sean figured out early on that if something made his heart race, he could find a way to monetize it. As the Director of Sports Marketing for DC Shoes, Sean launched the brand’s first snowboarding division, and jobs like consulting for the X Games have allowed him to stay close to the sport he loves.  A seasoned marketing pro, having worked with major brands like Converse and consulted on events ranging from SXSW to Art Basel, Sean has found another way to spike his heart rate in recent years—and his new company is the perfect supplement.   Today, Sean is the co-founder of BUBS Naturals, the maker of industry-leading collagen protein powder and MCT oil powder products. The body and brain benefits that drive these high-quality supplements have been especially handy for Sean, who these days is more likely to be found banging out burpees than bombing black diamonds. But not all of the heavy lifting is done in the CrossFit gym. Sean, along with BUBS Naturals co-founder TJ Ferrara, didn’t just want to start another company—they wanted to do something unprecedented.    They’d researched the best-in-class certified B corporations like Patagonia and other charitable-minded companies like Toms—and they figured they could do better. Not long after that, BUBS Naturals was born, with 10% of every sale donated to the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit that helps special operations professionals from all branches of the military succeed in civilian life.    There’s a reason they chose the GDMF. Glen Doherty was Sean’s closest friend, a Navy SEAL (call sign “BUB”), and one of the four Americans killed in the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya. The foundation serves to help U.S. vets find support in society and rely less on the same kind of military contracting jobs that lured Glen back into the field. Sean and TJ named BUBS Naturals in Glen’s honor and run the company around a strict moral code modeled on Glen’s own—starting with a relentless commitment to self improvement and helping others.   That doesn’t make it any easier to grow a startup, especially one that donates 10% of each sale to charity. Furthermore, each year BUBS Naturals donates 100% of all Veterans Day sales to the GDMF. It’s an extraordinary feat that can only be accomplished with extraordinary effort and an extraordinary source of motivation. If you enjoyed this episode, please Comment Share and leave a review... EP:183 Kathleen Reily Uses Her Story to Help Others
Today I work as a Chronic Anxiety Coach, teaching people how to rewire constant worry, fear, and anxiety in the brain. I would like to start from the beginning. I was born with a cleft lip and palate and went through more than seventeen corrective and cosmetic surgeries as a result. Throughout my early childhood, I went through more than eight operations before the age of ten. In the nineties, we knew so little about early childhood hospital trauma, and how damaging it can be. When a young child goes into surgery without any understanding of what is really happening, the child will be put under while in a state of panic and fear. While the body is unable to escape the danger, all of this trauma stays locked the body’s memory. Later this trauma can manifests in his or her twenties as severe anxiety and panic. This was my story.    In addition to being seen by others as abnormal, different, sometimes deformed because of my cleft lip and palate. I also had visual tracking challenges as well, which created significant issues not only in the classroom but also in terms of my communication with others as I got older. Eventually, I treated my strabismus by having corrective surgery and going through years of behavioral optometry. Through neuroplasticity, I had retrained my brain to process information from the eye that had turned inward when I two and a half years old. After doing so I corrected my visual tracking challenges and began to excel in the classroom. While I was recovering from my vision surgery I had to be i the dark for several days. As a result, I went inward, and that is when I decided I would use my knowledge of neural plasticity and begin healing my trauma and chronic anxiety. The process was so effective, I decided to go through a few certification programs, and designed an eight-week course that I now teach to others. This program is incredibly effective and has rewired many highly anxious and fearful minds. Here is a hint go big and go loud. The only way to think about being a guest by proactively reaching out to podcast hosts and promoting yourself as a potential guest. By Playing offense with your guesting" strategy, you will find creative ways to not only become a guest but also set a number of shows you will be on each month.  There are now over six hundred thousand podcasts in the market place so why should you be a guest?  By appearing on podcasts as a guest expert for an interview or a guest co-host or panelist for an episode, you have the opportunity to market yourself and your podcast to that audience. Once you identify the audience you’re trying to reach, you need to find these podcasts online. There are a few ways: You can search in iTunes for specific keywords You can browse podcasts by category on all platforms You can search on Google for podcasts that your target market might listen to (Searching for things like “Target Market + Podcast”) You can browse online podcast directories Create a database of podcasts you want to go after with URLs and contact information. Then its all about the numbers. Set a number of reach-outs you will do on a daily basis When you pitch yourself  Know what the show is about Listen to an episode and reference in the pitch with a few takeaways Understand what the podcast is trying to accomplish Pitch with what the audience will get out of the episode Don't be self-serving help the podcaster understand what value you will bring to the audience Don't BS your numbers Don't start with I wrote a book, lead in why you could share your story a good podcaster when then help you promote your book Understand how many reach-outs you need to land a podcast guest gig Starting out targeting shows with less than 10 episodes (You are likely the first person who has asked to be a guest on the show.  Relax it's simply a conversation Once you're on the show, help the podcaster deliver a good show by, researching before you go on about show flow and questions they may ask. Don't monologue the entire show, this is their show let them get their thoughts in Don't overpromote yourself - Gently nudge that you wrote a book or that you have something to sell. Relax its just a conversation After the show airs Promote the show for the podcaster Send a thank you for the interview Leave them a review on iTunes Suggest another guest they may be a fit for the show Share the show again 30 days later. EP:178 Lucinda Bakken White Took Decades to Unearth Her Original Self Under Well-Crafted Masks
For much of her life, Lucinda Bakken White immersed herself into the modern mainstream culture and achieved a pinnacle of the American Dream. To do so, she became a master at pretending in order to fit in. As a single, affluent, well dressed, attractive woman with advanced degrees, she was able to purchase a home, drive a fancy car and climb her way up through the management ranks of corporate America, by the time she was thirty. Successful by all external measures, her perfect presentation belied how she felt on the inside. Confused and disheartened to realize that these things did not make her happy and joyful (as was promised by the media, culture, her family and friends) she slipped into a debilitating depression that led to thoughts of suicide. Once she was able to move through this difficult period in her life, she was determined to overcome her fear of not belonging and to slay her deep-seated feelings of loneliness. In the process, she was surprised to realize the irony in her quest. The truth is, she was lonely and longing for her inner self. Reconnecting with hidden and lost parts of her essential nature was easier said than done. It took her decades to methodically unearth her original self under the plethora of well-crafted masks she had so successfully created. But, with the help of teachers, mentors, spiritual guides—and most importantly nature—she reclaimed her “authentic wildness” and her full self-expression. Now, as an author, public speaker, and Inner Wildness Guide, she lives a deeply fulfilling life helping other people realize their authentic wildness.  Authentic Wildness Confessions of a Bone Woman If you enjoyed this episode, please Comment Share and leave a review... EP:176 Darbie Angell and Her Amazing Journey Consumed with Wanderlust
DARBIE ANGELL’S STORY I started my company without a single contact in the industry. I was working at one of the largest law firms in the country and went into labor with my daughter when I was five months pregnant. I was put on bed rest for four months and decided I wanted to start a company by combining my passion to impact the world with my knowledge in design. I wanted to show my soon-to-be daughter how to dare to dream big! That bold step to live fully is what led me to create this company, which has since become my life’s work. With zero capital to put towards the brand, I found a man in Israel that sold me diamonds at cost. I then turned around and sold them to women around the world. This venture allowed me to create my first product samples and attend my first meetings in New York with Macy’s. We are blessed to now be in retailers such as Macy’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Dillard’s, as well as smaller home stores and boutiques. Since then, it has been an amazing journey of living boldly, pushing myself through obstacles, and passionately working to make an impact in the world. It’s hard to narrow down just one thing that inspires me to keep going. As a mother of two girls, my first priority is showing them that they can do anything they dream of and encouraging them to always be passionate about what they are doing in life. Additionally, my interactions with people I have met traveling the world are what have inspired me to give back. I don’t go a single day without thinking about the life-changing sights I have seen and cultures I have been immersed in. I look at every moment as an opportunity to create, inspire, and explore, and the culture of my company embraces each opportunity. It drives me to go the extra mile to not only make luxurious pieces but to promote change.   If you enjoyed this episode, please Comment Share and leave a review...
