扁鍬形蟲是台灣數十種鍬形蟲中最常見的一種，也常被稱為剪龜仔（tsián-ku-á）或「雞母蟲」。想在野外找到牠們，可以尋找牠們喜愛的食物來源，有時甚至能觀察到扁鍬形蟲與獨角仙爭食的精彩大戰。
