May 3, 2021. When you think of a PhD I'm sure what comes to mind is a professor, an ivory tower, and a wool suit with elbow patches. There are more than 200,000 people with PhDs in Canada and this number is increasing every year with far fewer opportunities in academia. This week on the pod we have Val Chiykowski, a senior venture manager at Creative Destruction Lab, a science-based startup accelerator, to hear about transitioning out of academia and breaking out of the PhD mold.
