Ep 029 Lessons Learned with Nancy Becher
Update: 2018-11-01
Description
I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it – Thomas Jefferson
Nancy Becher – ME! – has been in business as she likes to say since dinosaurs were around. At least computer dinosaurs. Her first computer was a Kaypro (Google it). There was no hard drive, 2 8.5 in floppies and it ran on a now obscure software called DOS. If you wanted to learn how to run a business, for the most part it was trial and error. Until you found something that worked. Well, guess what? That’s still true today. With so many gurus and programs “guaranteed” to help you grow, you still have to try things until they work or fail. She wants you to have an easier time doing this, by providing information that you can trust, that you know makes sense and that you’ll want to implement. Not to say that it will all work, but you’re further along than you were before in much less time.
In this episode we talk about recent events in my life that have shaped my business going forward. Some things that I learned to do, some that I shouldn’t do, and ways to grow my business (and thus help you and your business) in less time.
We talk about:
1.The cycle of focusing on working IN as opposed to working ON your business. Why that’s bad and what you should do to avoid the ups and downs of “busy-ness”.
2.The three exercises you should do monthly to keep your business momentum going in the right direction.
3.What the heck does “don’t wait til pigs fly” have anything to do with business?
