Description

This episode is a special two part episode dedicated to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. I speak to representatives of two British NGOs, Afghanaid and the Afghanistan & Central Asian Association (ACAA), who are working to support Afghans affected by the escalation of events as the Taliban retake control of the country.

In Part One, I speak to Charles Davy, Managing Director of Afghanaid. Charles shares his experience in Kabul as the Taliban assert control and sheds light on key steps the Government and British public can take to continue offering humanitarian aid during this critical period.

This is a summary of our conversation:

  • The buildup to the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul

  • What it was like to work in Taliban controlled areas

  • The Taliban’s mixed stances on women’s rights and amnesty

  • Afghanaid’s Humanitarian assistance in the country

  • What can the British Government do to support Afghans?

  • What can the British public do to support Afghans?
