Ep 385: Brazil’s regulatory battle and more spot-fixing allegations
Description
Fernando Noodt, Senior Journalist for SBC Noticias, is back at the helm for the latest episode of iGaming Daily, supported by Optimove. This time he is joined by Ricardo Assis, Editor of SBC Noticas Brasil, and Isadora Marcante, SBC’s Relationship Manager for Brazil, to talk all the latest news from Brazil.
Following President Lula’s warning that he will shut the regulatory market down if it doesn’t meet expectations, Senator Rodrigo Pacheco has reiterated the message that the sector will be pulled if it cannot set up a responsible environment.
The trio discuss the implications of the message, what this means for operators in the country and also look at the recently published statement from the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR) addressing responsible gambling concerns.
The IBJR has also released a responsible gambling manifesto and the show talks about the four pillars of the organisation’s guidelines and how they will help promote responsible gaming.
Later on in the episode, the show’s attention turns to the pitch as Flamengo’s Bruno Henrique and two Brazilian national team players are facing investigations for suspicious betting on the players receiving yellow cards.
The trio talk about the implications of these allegations for sporting integrity and compare the allegations to other ongoing sports betting controversies in football.
