It's been 32 years since my mother had passed. And Alameda's Wood middle school has honored my mother every year and my family has presented this award to a student who has flourished, improved in the grades and had a positive impact on everyone they touched. I reflect on what this award means to me and my family. Cheers to the student Kiara, may you find success and joy in your journey to come.
