We have a very special guest today. If you're a football fan, especially of the NFL and the Miami Dolphins, this gentleman needs no introduction. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 1973 NFL Draft by Miami as an offensive lineman out of Duke, where in addition to being a football All American in 1971, he was also an ACC heavyweight wrestling champion in 1970 and 1971.
He played in the last three Super Bowls that the Dolphins have appeared in, the last of which was 1985. He played 13 NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins from 1973 to 1985 and was named a four consecutive Pro Bowls from 1981 to 1984. He was also named to the all pro second team for the 1981 to 1983 seasons and was first team all pro in 1984 when he enjoyed his greatest season as a professional.
He has been inducted into the Duke Athletic Hall of Fame, the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, and the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in Israel. He was also inducted into the Miami Dolphins Walk of Honor in 2014 and the St. Thomas University of Florida Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. He was listed as one of the top 50 players in the first 50 years of the franchise by the Miami Dolphins.
After his football playing days were done he enjoyed a very successful legal career in Miami as both an attorney and then as a county judge from 1994 to 2022. Along with his daughter Holly Newman Greenberg, he's the co-author of the forthcoming book, Warrior Judge, One Man's Journey from Gridiron to Gavel, a memoir that will be released in early 2024.
