An investigation into a Brazilian car wash that was being used for money laundering led to the discovery of Latin America’s largest bribery ring. By the time the soapsuds settled, billions were discovered to have been paid out to Presidents and senior government officials across the continent for government contracts. Frustrated with the lack of political will to indict the culprits, Michael Freitas Mohallem, a young Brazilian lawyer, led a country-wide civic movement to put an end to the corruption.
